While it’s always sad to see the closure of outdoor retailers, the loss of Breathe Outdoors (formerly Campers Village) is particularly sad. In business for over 60 years, this family-run business had large-format stores in Calgary and Edmonton, but according to a 14 March 2025 article in the Calgary Herald, the combination of a shifting economy and move to online purchasing led to the closure.
